Amazon.co.uk Review
Pure. Popcorn. Entertainment. That's an exact classification of director Michael Bay's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The action is nonstop, with battles and explosions from start to finish. The camera (without any subtlety) exploits Megan Fox's hotness to the max. As if she weren't enough, a new sex kitten (Isabel Lucas) is thrown into the equation. Shia LaBeouf is as charismatic as ever, and fills the starring role with ease. And then there's the humour. Sam's parents (Kevin Dunn and Julie White) provided some semi-raunchy laugh-out-loud moments in the first movie, but now they take it to the next level. Sometimes it seems like they are trying a little too hard, but it is still hilarious.

As far as the “plot” goes, the writers didn't waste much time--it's really just a context for the giant-robot death matches and dramatic slow-mo sequences. The movie kicks off two years later where the Autobots have formed an alliance with the U.S. government, creating an elite team led by Major Lennox (Josh Duhamel), in an effort to snuff out any remaining Decepticons that show up. The bad guys keep coming, and it turns out that a much more menacing force than Megatron is out there--and it is looking for something on Earth that is tied to the very origin of the Transformers race. Fans of the franchise will be delighted by the addition of many new robot characters (there are well over 40 in the sequel, versus only 13 in the first). The second Transformers has shaped up to be one of the worst reviewed and most successful movies of all time. This strange pairing is really just an indication that this movie has one purpose: to entertain. The creators didn't want to waste time bogging down the action and drama with substance--which was arguably a good decision. --Jordan Thompson

4 out of 5 stars Popcorn!   June 28, 2010
Sharangir (Switzerland)
After the first Transformers I expected a LOT!
This was a mistake :o(

They have added some nice new Transformers to this one, but the story is flat as hell...
All those childish, pervert jokes... unnecessary!

I don't like Megan Fox neither..
But why the hell do they exchange her for part 3???
Mikaela all of a sudden changed her face or what?!

Shia LaBoeuf is great!
If this was ten years ago, I'm pretty sure, he'd be my idol! ;o)

Transformers 2 is definitely DEMO material on Blu-Ray, when it comes to sound and image!

The CGI and action sequences are amazing so there is only one recommendation:
Invite some friends, drink a lot and make some popcorn. lol

I thought this was very good, my partner loves it and has seen it many times!

If you like this sort of film and you enjoyed the cartoons then you'll like this. We saw this at the cinema and then pre ordered our DVD.

Found quite entertaining although certain scenes a bit confusing. Concept quite good and rapid pace maintained throughout adventure. Have watched more than once without being bored.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent sequel / action movie   May 19, 2010

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (1-Disc) [DVD] [2009]

I loved the remake of the Transformers movie and eagerly awaited a sequel. My son was born in 1982 so I have fond memories of being the only parent in our house who could actually manipulate the toys to "transform" them into cars or planes etc.

I'm so pleased I wasn't disappointed with the end result and the lead characters have remained the same. They work so well together and although it's hard to imagine that seeing CGI robots/machines on screen could invoke emotions from viewers they really do.

Excellent film, which is why I bought it so I can now watch it again and again whenever the mood takes me.

Having just seen this film I have come to the conclusion that it goes way over the top, and appears very silly throughout most of the movie. The special effects are good, but too much, so much so that it loses out, and the dialogue is awful at best with all the cliches ever devised. The plot is absurd when you really look at it, and all this buddy buddy thing makes for a lousy tale. Sadly, even though it's a blockbuster, it's badly written and should have been dumped. When one thinks of all the money they spent and Spielberg behind it, there are so many better scripts out there with good stories that never see the light of day and this tosh gets all the hype.
