Amazon.co.uk Review An adaptation of the Neil Gaiman novel of the same name, Stardust brings a strong cast together for an enjoyable family feast, with plenty to enjoy. Stardust mixes in romance and adventure, all in a fantasy movie guise, as it follows Tristan on his quest to retrieve a fallen star for the beautiful Victoria. Only it soon becomes clear that there's a lot more going on as Tristan makes his journey (not least a companion more diverting than the aforementioned Victoria). Michelle Pfeiffer, for instance, returns to high profile movie making (after quite a break) in the role of the evil witch, while there's space too for Robert De Niro's pirate and an odd cameo from Ricky Gervais. Seemingly one of a wealth of family films that made it out of the blocks off the success of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Stardust doesn't quite hit those heights, but it has quite a sporting go. It's an uneven tale, albeit one told with enough passion and enthusiasm to encourage you to cut it some slack. And when it gets to the end of the last reel, it's hard to feel shortchanged by what you've just seen. For while Stardust has problems, it also has laughs, adventure, action and a whole lot in its corner to recommend it. And it is worth your time and attention. --Jon Foster

Sweet, funny and magical. July 4, 2010 Ernie (Kent) This is normally the type of film I avoid like the plague, but I was nagged into renting it by a young family member who I sat and watched it with. I can honestly say this was one of the most entertaining and well made films I have seen of this type. If you're looking for a good family film which will keep every age group entertained, then look no further. A great storyline, brilliantly acted by a great cast and absolutely magical from start to end.
Just a lovely film June 28, 2010 R. Timbs (England) I absolutely loved this film, as did my 6 year old daughter, my 11 year old son, my 13 year old daughter and my 70 year old mum!! Really, if you like the fantasy genre and have a bit of a soft centre, then I can't recommend this film highly enough. It was charming, heart warming, funny, well acted and well written.
Botox for Miss Pfeiffer please! June 5, 2010 sft (UK) Vaughn's ambitious fantasy is something of a curate's egg. It certainly looks good, with some impressive, if uneven, special effects and an attractive, stellar cast. It will undoubtedly enchant most children and keep them entertained throughout. For me, however, it was marred by several fundamental flaws. There's some very clunky dialogue, and, in their (laudable) efforts to appeal to both kids and adults, Vaughn and Goldman have allowed themselves to indulge in some painfully laboured humour. There's also a somewhat contrived, forced feeling to the way the story progresses. This may sound like mean-spirited criticism but these problems result in a movie that has much less heart and charm than it ought to have. This is far from being a bad movie, but, with an improved script, it could have been a much better one.
STARDUST...A+ April 30, 2010 I really enjoyed this film! Was very impressed with the story. When previously watching trailers, I didn't think it was a film I would enjoy but it surprised me! I found this film very enjoyable and the acting was a top 10/10 from Michelle Pfeiffer! x
Stardust....! Great for all ages.. April 21, 2010 SE Timmins (England) Stardust....! Great for all ages..
I tried to watch this movie many times on TV. However, every time at the half waypoint there was a telephone call, and therefore I missed many scenes from the film. So I decided to obtain it on DVD from Amazon, so I could see all of Stardust without commercials or surprise calls.
It is a movie for everyone, and it was good to see Robert De Niro in drag, it was so funny.
There was many of the A-listers in this movie.
Well worth the money, and a great adventure film.
Best Regards
Steve Timmins
