Product Description
David Attenborough Directors: Alastair Fothergill

Amazon.co.uk Review
As befits the BBC's reputation for producing some of the world's best nature documentaries, the five-disc set Planet Earth is an epic travelogue, focussing on different ecologies and the unique animals that inhabit them. Once again, Sir David Attenborough provides the narration, as the cameras fly across the surface of the earth, zooming in to give us a bug's eye view one minute, zooming out to give us an eagle's perspective the next. The BBC's cameramen filmed more than 200 locations, resulting in some truly spectacular footage, much of which has never before been seen--such as the rare sight of an endangered snow leopard hunting in the Himalayas, or great white sharks leaping from the water as they hunt. The creators of Planet Earth endured some of the world's most hostile environments, from the deepest ocean depths to an Antarctic blizzard to a fetid, cockroach- and bat-infested cave, just to grab a few moments of film; it's worth watching the "Making of" shorts that accompany each episode, in order to see just what lengths they had to go to. The three extra episodes here--Planet Earth: The Future--provide a sobering finale, as Sir David practically pleads with viewers to cherish the animals that we share this planet with, before it's too late. --Ted Kord

5 out of 5 stars Stunning - Planet Earth   March 8, 2010
Richard. (West Midlands, England)
I've watched 2 discs so far and so far the quality of the picture is amazing, so vibrant and clear. There are 3 chapters per disc (40ish minutes per chapter) although I must add that you have to select each chapter to play as they don't continue on to the next chapter. Definitely a must buy if you own a Blu-ray player.

5 out of 5 stars Planet-earth- a must watch.   March 2, 2010

Planet earth is a "must have" DVD. The DVD description says everything about the contents and your experience will be more than what you would expect. It is all about life and its struggle in the various contours of the earth which are divided into episodes. It has continuous moments of spectacle in a flowing narration of the earth's beauty. If you are a nature lover and can't travel, buy this!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing   March 1, 2010

Amazing BBC series
A great effort of production that shows the generall public the wonderful thing that it is our planet and the immense biodiversity. It shows places and species to us that we did not know. I was surprised by the Baikal Lake in Siberia that owns unique species including a seal that can only be found in that place and is the inique mammal of the lake. This lake contains 20% of the fresh water of the planet.

5 out of 5 stars Stunning Images   February 25, 2010

This is a really fantastic BBC production - and you have it all in one handy - and nice - box!

Stunning and fascinating pictures about our globe - brilliant images - this must have taken years to produce.

In any event, it's an excellent "wake-up call" for all of us office Dilberts that tend to forget what's going on out there...
